. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
president's weekend is a great weekend because even people
in the film industry get the day off! gasp! that's impressive,
considering many other holidays in the biz are waived and my hubs still has to work.
we celebrated by planning a spontaneous camping trip to the woods of los angeles,
the angeles national forest (forest of angels... sounds nice, right?).
spence and i loaded up our car and headed up the mountain
brimming with goods for s'mores, fires, tin foil dinners and a nature breakfast.
we even brought the bug spray! we love sleeping outside and being outdoors.
our high expectations were flushed when we drove up to a gate reading, "closed to camping."
talk about total party pooper, forest ranger (which by the way, was my aspiring career for years).
apparently los angeles closes their forest when temperatures drop below 50 degrees.
lame - o, if you ask me. we were sorely disappointed, especially considering
the internet lied and told us campgrounds were open year round.
despite this - we made the best of it and enjoyed exploring in the clouds.
it was surprisingly cold! we even found patches of snow.
clouds hung in the air and drifted right through us, making us feel invincible.
it was a beautiful sight to see. the blue tones of the sky made us nostalgic.
not sure what for, exactly - just a lingering feeling of mischievousness.
we ended up going home and camping out in our living room.
tent set up and all. it was glorious. we watched the grey to get our wolf on.
that, and to feel like we were really in the woods.
. . . . . . .
p.s. see more photos of our camping indoors here
p.s.s. are you jealous of my GIGANTIC pinecone?
found this baby in the woods tucked in the snow.
record breaker, i tell you. record breaker.
that's a really big pinecone. just saying. :))

great photos! love the indoor camp idea :) do you edit your photos at all?
ReplyDeletenancy, thank you :) to be truthful - no, i usually do not. there is very little post processing done to my photos, besides minor lighting tweaks. it really depends on what i'm going for but i like to stay true to its natural form.
Deleteoh, I completely agree! you really do take some beautiful photos. I look forward to atttaining a good quality camera, and (hopefully) taking some beautiful photos myself!
DeleteI am loooovvviinggg the smore and reeces together. Yummy.
ReplyDeleteyou guys are just the cutest! & the photos are always amazing. The mister and I love to camp! It is always nice to just get out into the woods and turn your phones off :)

I'm also liking the indoor camp idea.
what a bummer! but i find it sort of hilarious - 50F is about 10 degrees celsius. and i have definitely been camping in such temperatures! do they worry the californians will freeze to death? :)
ReplyDeleteglad you two made the best of it!

ReplyDeletethe fog is so lovely! i'm so sorry you couldn't go camping, that's the worst to have your adventure plans crushed. But Im so glad you two made the most of it by camping inside!
