  9. That last trip was my second trip to Guatemala. The first time I went was years ago to help build another orphanage. It's so cool you are going to Guatemala too! I'd say places you must go are: Antigua (at least two nights) we splurged and stayed at two gorgeous hotels the first and better of the two was called Hotel Convento. It was incredible. The second was Casa Santo Domingo with is also amazing just way more touristy. Or im told the hostels there are pretty decent and very very in expensive. Make sure in Antigua sure you eat at Frida's restaurant and check out all the handicraft markets. We also went to Lake Atitlan for a few days too. I would recommend staying in Panajachel around the lake because it's the easiest to get around and taking tuk tuks at night outside of town is terrifying because of the high/steep terrain in that area. Panajachel also makes setting up tours, meeting new people and getting food way easier than the other towns surrounding the lake. Helpful things to know: Be aware that most banks close early and are closed on Sundays. Best to carry the local currency with you compared to american dollars. You already know this from being in Peru but bargaining is totally expected when buying handicrafts and booking hostels. Last thing is, if you are like me and want to try all the delicious food there, bring some pepto bismol and gravel for upset stomach. It saved my life a few times!!! haha I hope you have the best time!!!
