you could say i'm in heaven.
we decided to really celebrate our summer by
having a mountain escape, just like
the kind of summers we had growing up.

big bear lake is about 2.5 hours away from LA,
and we are staying in a darling little cabin near the lake.
it's the perfect getaway. we love spending our days
wandering around aimlessly and taking our time.
yesterday we watched the sunset over the lake,
and i laid out on the hood of our wagon soaking it all in.

it's funny getting so used to the salty air of the ocean,
the constant lull of crashing waves and a tide -
and then switching to the familiar scents of lakes
with ducks swimming and quacking and algae collecting
on the rocks. this is how my childhood was.
this was "my beach," and returning to it in a sense
has made me very nostalgic for those memories.

our plan is to kayak on the lake, do some biking
and make little videos just for fun of all our adventures.
if you have been or are familiar with big bear lake,
we would love any pointers on what the best things to do
or see (and especially secret spots at the lake!) would be.
we only have a few days, so it's now or never! :)
